Raku Mud Club

A small, friendly pottery group for people who could use a calmer, more connected few hours in the week.

This is more than a free pottery class. It's a six-week pottery & wellbeing course for three local adults — a quiet space to slow down, work with clay, learn something new, and feel part of a small, supportive group. No experience needed, and being “good” at it isn't the point.

This might be for you if you…

Feel isolated, or like life has “shrunk” a little lately
Are carrying stress and want time away from the noise
Are low on confidence and would value a gentle restart
Wouldn't usually sign up for a course, or couldn't afford one

Across six Saturdays, you'll try wheel throwing and handbuilding at your own pace.

Each week you'll build a little more skill and confidence — making mugs, bowls and simple sculptural pieces — with plenty of time for tea, conversation and a gentle check-in. The focus is on enjoying the process: slowing down, using your hands, and being part of a friendly group.

By the end, you'll have made a small collection of your own work to be proud of.

The finale · Raku firing

On the final week, each person chooses two favourite pieces to be Raku fired — a dramatic outdoor firing that gives glazes their unique, unrepeatable surfaces. You'll take yours home as a lasting reminder.
